So I'll say it again, I don't mind paying a little more for better quality; there is however, a limit to how much more I will pay for better quality. I'm a professional grade shampooer. I'll admit it. I am one of those nuts who will pay between $10-$13 for a bottle of shampoo or conditioner (once it gets to $14+ then I stop). Twelve-years-ago or more, you wouldn't catch met dead with anything costing more than $3 or $4 a bottle.
Lately, I have been reevaluating my purchasing preferences and considering less expensive alternatives which perform just as well. I switched from expensive $7 body wash to a $1.99 bar of vegan soap. My body still comes out clean, odor is washed away, and my skin does not feel stripped. The fragrance of the soap is good too, smells like oatmeal cookies! In fact, it seems somewhat better than my $7 body wash that claims to be very hydrating, luxurious...whatever. I don't ever keep up with how long my old body wash use to last me per bottle, but this soap has last me almost 2 months and I still have at least 2 weeks left. The bar is only 3.5 oz. Kick ass!
Shampoo. My dear sister suggested I try Suave Professionals. I almost shit my pants. I immediately discounted the quality of Suave based on reputation. I told her the reason why I use salon grade over drugstore grade is because salon grade used better quality ingredients and are more gentle. She told me to try Suave Professionals because they guarantee that it does the same as "XXX (professional brand)." After debating with her for quite a while, I finally decided to take her word and try it out, and that if my hair fell out or turned green I'd come after her. So I went to the store and picked up a bottle of the volumizing shampoo and conditioner....they were both $2.50 each. Both bottles cost me less than half of what I would pay for one bottle of professional grade shampoo/conditioner.
I've been using Suave Professionals for 3 weeks now and no complaints. My hair is just as shiny and clean as if I were using a salon grade shampoo. The fragrance for Suave Pro is stronger though, but it's a pleasant smell. I don't notice any breakage (what lots of Pantene users experience) nor do I experience yuck straw like hair due to residue.
I'm actually satisfied!! Surprise!!! It's great. So for all you shampoo snobs, try Suave Professionals. It may not be for everyone, but it's worth a shot...$2.50 a bottle. Worse case, you'll just use it to wash your make up brushes. So god-damn it, my sister was right on this one.
